THE BIO

Ashley Wilburn is a native of Hagerstown in Maryland. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School where she received her secondary education. Ashley Wilburn's practice in law is centered around family law. She has a love for it. She concentrates her practice on divorce cases, alimony disputes, marital property division child custody battles, and child support arrangements. She also deals with post-divorce enforcement and post-divorce issues such as step-parent adoptions and private party adoptions, as and concerns regarding child welfare. In addition to family law, Ashley also handles estate planning issues, such as trusts, wills, probate and estate administration in addition to commercial contract, civil litigation cases. Ashley has been a court-appointed mediator since 2019. She assists parties to resolve their disputes without the necessity of litigation or court involvement. Ashley mediates private disputes as well as court-appointed mediation for those who want to stay clear of litigation and court processes.

Ashley completed her undergraduate studies in History and Politics at Loyola University of Maryland. She then pursued her legal education through Western New England University School of Law. She graduated in 2013 and was placed among the top 10 students of her class. During her time at law school, Ashley served as a Note Editor for the prestigious Western New England Law Review which showcased her dedication to legal scholarship and research.

Ashley began her clerkship after completing her law degree. She worked for notable jurists from Connecticut and Maryland. She was fortunate enough to serve as a law assistant to the Honorable Richard A. Robinson at the Connecticut Appellate Court and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott. In 2014, she returned home to Hagerstown Maryland to work as a law clerk for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long, Washington County Circuit Court. In 2015, Ashley joined the esteemed law firm of Poole & Kane, P.A. as an associate attorney. Her primary role in the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services on cases involving child welfare. Through her dedicated efforts, Ashley played a vital role in assisting children who were victims of neglect or abuse at the from their parents or caregivers. Her commitment to social injustice extended beyond her legal career when she was a member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force. She was a tireless worker to raise awareness regarding human trafficking in the tri-state region.

In 2017 she was a founding member at Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., and established her practice in family law – divorce, custody guardianships, child maintenance and divorce and financial and estate planning - wills, trusts and powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxies – and mediation.

Ashley started Wilburn Law Office, LLC in 2023. She has a the intention of providing an individual approach to each client's requirements.
