THE BIO

Ashley Wilburn, a native of Hagerstown, Maryland, proudly hails from North Hagerstown High School, where she completed her secondary education. With a deep passion for family law, Ashley's current legal practice revolves around various aspects of family law. She concentrates her practice on divorce cases, alimony disputes, marital property division and child custody battles as well as child support arrangements. She also handles the post-divorce and enforcement of issues including step-parent adoptions as well as private adoptions at parties as well as concerns about child welfare. Ashley has been as a mediator appointed by the court since 2019 helping parties to help them resolve their disputes without the needing court involvement. In addition to court-appointed mediation, Ashley also mediates in private matters for those who would prefer to avoid the litigation and court process.

After having completed her undergraduate studies at Loyola University of Maryland, where she received two bachelor's degrees in History and Political Science, Ashley pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. She graduated in 2013 and was placed among the top 10 students in her class. Ashley was a Note Editor at the Western New England Law Review during her time in law school. This was a sign of her dedication to legal research and scholarship.

Ashley began her clerkship career after she completed her law degree. She worked for renowned jurists from Connecticut and Maryland. She was privileged to be being a law assistant for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott at the Connecticut Appellate Court. In 2014, she returned home to Hagerstown, Maryland, to serve as an attorney for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long, Washington County Circuit Court. In 2015, Ashley joined the esteemed law firm of Poole & Kane, P.A. As an associate attorney. Her primary focus at the firm was representing the Washington County Department of Social Services in cases involving child welfare. Through her dedicated efforts, Ashley played a vital role in helping children who had suffered neglect or abuse at from their parents or caregivers. Her commitment to social injustice extended beyond her legal career as she served as an active member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force. She worked tirelessly to raise awareness about human trafficking in the tri-state region.

In 2017, she was a founding member at Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., and developed her expertise in family law - custody, divorce and child maintenance, as well as guardianships and financial and estate planning, wills, trusts and powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxy – and mediation.

Ashley founded Wilburn Law Office, LLC 2023, with the aim of providing an individual approach to every client's needs.
