Ashley Wilburn is a native of Hagerstown in Maryland. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School where she completed her secondary education. With a deep-rooted love for family law, Ashley's current legal practice is centered around a variety of aspects of family matters. She focuses her practice on divorce cases, alimony matters, marital property division, child custody battles and child support arrangements. She also deals with the post-divorce and enforcement of issues as well as step-parent adoptions, private party adoptions, as well as concerns about child welfare. Ashley has served as a mediator appointed by the court since 2019, assisting parties in helping them resolve their matters without need for litigation and court involvement. In addition to mediation mandated by the court, Ashley also mediates in private matters for those who want to stay clear of the litigation and court process.
Ashley completed her undergraduate studies in History and Politics at Loyola University of Maryland. She then pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. She graduated in 2013 and was ranked among the top 10 students of her class. While at law school, Ashley served as a Note Editor for the esteemed Western New England Law Review, showcasing her commitment to legal scholarship and research.
Ashley began her clerkship path after completing her law degree. She worked for notable jurists from Connecticut and Maryland. She was privileged to serve as a law assistant to the Honorable Richard A. Robinson at the Connecticut Appellate Court and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott. In 2014, she returned home to Hagerstown, Maryland, to work as an attorney for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long, Washington County Circuit Court. Ashley joined Poole & Kane P.A. in 2015 as an associate attorney. as an associate attorney. Her main focus at the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services in cases concerning child welfare. Ashley's devoted efforts played a significant role in helping children who were victims of in the face of neglect or abuse at care of their parents or caregivers. Her dedication to fighting social injustice was not limited to her legal career when she was a member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force. She worked tirelessly to increase awareness about human trafficking in the tri-state region.
In 2017, she was a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., where she developed her practice in the fields of family law - divorce, custody, child support and guardianships, as well as estate planning, wills, trusts and powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxy - and mediation.
Ashley founded Wilburn Law Office, LLC in 2023. Ashley founded Wilburn Law Office, LLC with an intention to provide a personalized approach to every client's needs.
