Ashley Wilburn is a native of Hagerstown in Maryland. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School where she completed her secondary education. Ashley Wilburn's practice in law is centered around family law. She has a love for it. She concentrates the majority of her work on divorce cases, alimony disputes divorce property distribution child custody battles child support arrangements, postnuptial and prenuptial agreements, post-divorce enforcement issues including step-parent and private parties adoptions, as well as concerns about child welfare. In addition to family law, Ashley also handles estate planning matters, including trusts, wills, probate, and estate administration, along with commercial contracts, civil litigation cases. Ashley has served as a mediator appointed by a court since the year and assists parties in helping them resolve their disputes without the needing to litigate or court involvement. In addition to mediations that are court-appointed, Ashley also mediates in private cases for individuals who would prefer to avoid the court process and litigation.
Ashley completed her undergraduate studies in History and Politics at Loyola University of Maryland. Then, she pursued her legal education through Western New England University School of Law. She graduated in 2013 and was placed among the top 10 students of her class. During her time at law school, Ashley served as a Note Editor for the esteemed Western New England Law Review, showcasing her commitment to legal scholarship and research.
Following the completion of her law degree, Ashley embarked on a clerkship program, working with notable jurists in Connecticut and Maryland. She had the privilege of being a law assistant for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott at the Connecticut Appellate Court. In 2014 she returned to her home town of Hagerstown to be a clerk for Honorable M. Kenneth Long at the Washington County Circuit Court, increasing her knowledge of the local legal landscape. In 2015, Ashley joined the esteemed law firm of Poole & Kane, P.A. As an associate attorney. Her main focus within the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services on cases involving child welfare. Through her tireless efforts, Ashley played a vital role in assisting children who were victims of neglect or abuse at from their parents or caregivers. Her dedication to social justice spanned far beyond the realm of law since she was actively an officer of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force working tirelessly to increase awareness of human trafficking in the tri-state region.
In 2017 she was a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., and began her practice in family law - divorce, custody and child maintenance, as well as guardianships and financial planning and estate planning – wills, trusts and powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxy – and mediation.
Ashley founded Wilburn Law Office, LLC in 2023. Ashley founded Wilburn Law Office, LLC with an intention to provide an individual approach to each client's needs.
